Online Dating First Messages – Are Your Emails Built To Receive Results?
5 Important Tips To Success
By Joshua Pompey
If we were to get shot down at a bar, odds are we were not approach a second time. That would be just plain creepy and desperate. We had our chance and we blew it.
Online dating first messages are no different. We only get one shot at this, so we need to get our approach perfect. Let’s take a look a few critical steps towards writing online dating first messages that will get results:
1. Use humor at the beginning of EVERY email
Successful online dating first messages will draw attention immediately. Laughter is the key to making this happen. If we have women believing we are fun, we are opening the door towards them believing we are great in other ways as well. In addition, we are separating ourselves from the competition, and providing relief from all the other boring messages they are receiving, thus, jumping to the front of the competition.
2. Focus on one commonality.
Once the humor is in place, follow up your joke with a question that relates to a common interest. This shows that you read her profile, are not spamming, and have a genuine interest in her that makes sense. The first half of the online dating first message is for entertainment, the second half is for building a connection.
3. Gage your audience.
As much as this is politically incorrect to say, a woman who is a ten, will respond differently to online dating first messages than a woman who is just average looking.
Tens usually have less time to respond, are tougher to gain the attention of, and require harsher teasing than average looking women. These subtle differences require that your first messages to be adjusted accordingly.
4. Add attraction builders to every email.
There are ten general ways to build attraction with women online. Our online dating first messages should try to use at least two of these in each email. Humor, demand, social value, etc., are all attraction builders that we can take advantage of.
If I were to end my email with, “I hope to hear from you soon,” I am unintentionally killing attraction. This phrasing implies that she is in control, and I am the lonely guy who is sitting around and waiting for a response.
But if I change this statement to, “I’m about to head out the door, things have been crazy lately, but I’ll talk to you soon,” now I am implying that I know she will respond, appear to be in complete control, and have subtly implied that I am a man who has an active social life. The entire image is change.
I have tapped into the attraction builders of demand, social value, self-confidence, as well as humor if I started my email with a joke (as discussed earlier in the article)
5. Don’t overcomplicate the first message.
Above all, no matter how much attraction and interest you build, if your online dating first messages are too long, require too much thinking, or ask too many questions, women won’t respond. Quality women have busy lives. Keep it entertaining, but brief.
